With this activity, the Foundation is promoting and stimulating playful grassroots basketball for 5 – 12-year-olds of both genders. The aim is to educate on the importance of good health and well-being, giving people responsible for Mini Basketball the tools to help keep kids active with fun and playful activities.
A Mini Basketball Convention is organized annually in a country of each continent with the respective FIBA Regional Office. Delegates responsible for Mini Basketball in their respective countries attend their continental Convention.
The delegates and local coaches undergo practical and theoretical sessions where they witness playful ways of teaching basketball fundamentals to youths and actively engage in an exchange of best practices and to reach better global coordination.
The participants learn ways to continue developing the Mini Basketball movement in their respective countries.
To leave a legacy for the hosting country and boost the Mini Basketball momentum, a Jamboree is organized, which gathers children to play basketball in a fun and exciting environment. Each child receives a Molten basketball to encourage them to keep on playing and staying active.

Hoops for Schools
With Develop Youth Basketball being one of FIBA's strategic objectives for the current cycle, FIBA Europe introduced European National Federations to the pilot launch of the Hoops For Schools (H4S) project in 2025.
The main goal of the Hoops For Schools project is to encourage kids and youngsters to participate in a multi-dimensional basketball program targeting primary schools and to raise awareness about the importance of physical activity, benefiting from the use of new technologies and gamification to maximize the impact.
Following the successful implementation of the European pilot, the program will now be expanded globally, and National Federations from all FIBA zones and other interested stakeholders can now access the new platform at hoopsforschools.basketball.
