MIES (Switzerland) – The FIBA Foundation is pleased to announce the selection of 100 Basketball For Good projects from 79 countries for the 2026 edition of Propose a Project, following a record application cycle that attracted 400 submissions from across the globe.
Approved by the FIBA Foundation Board, these initiatives will receive financial support, equipment donations and access to the global Basketball For Good community, helping them create positive impact through basketball.
Building on the success of 2025, the 2026 edition saw applications increase by more than 20%, while the number of supported projects grew by nearly 40%, highlighting the growing network of Basketball For Good initiatives that address social challenges and create opportunities for underserved communities.
A New Chapter for Her World Her Rules
One of the most significant developments for 2026 is the integration of Her World Her Rules (HWHR) into the Propose a Project framework.
This strategic evolution strengthens the connection between the two initiatives while expanding opportunities to advance female participation and gender equality through basketball.
For many years, Her World Her Rules has played a vital role in creating pathways for girls and women in basketball, impacting more than 180,000 girls worldwide.
By becoming part of the broader Propose a Project ecosystem, Her World Her Rules is now positioned to reach even more communities and support a wider range of beneficiaries.
The integration has opened the door to new project formats and beneficiaries, including girls, coaches and referees, while creating additional opportunities in underserved communities around the world.
Wider Reach, Greater Impact
The positive impact of this new approach is already visible in the 2026 results. A total of 46 Her World Her Rules projects from 43 countries have been selected to receive support, helping foster gender equality and female participation in basketball while contributing to FIBA’s strategic priority of Women in Basketball.
11 of these countries are newcomers to the program, demonstrating the initiative's growing reach and ability to engage first-time beneficiaries. With these additions, HWHR has now reached a total of 150 National Federations worldwide, reinforcing its role as a key driver of gender equality and female participation in basketball.
Together with the 43 National Federations in Europe receiving support through Her World Her Rules, a total of 89 HWHR projects are set to be implemented in 2026.

By bringing Her World Her Rules under the Propose a Project umbrella, the FIBA Foundation has reinforced its commitment to expanding access, increasing impact, and ensuring that more deserving communities can benefit from basketball's transformative potential.
As the selected projects begin implementation, they will join a global network of changemakers working together to make basketball a force for good across the world.
